The Brotherhood of Saint Gregory
Province 8 of the Brotherhood of Saint Gregory includes the Western United States matching the geography of Province 8 of The Episcopal Church. The Minister Provincial for our province is Brother Karekin Madteos Yarian, BSG, who resides in San Francisco, California.
The Province was established in 2002. At present, there are three professed brothers in this province located in San Francisco and Glendale, CA; one novice in Mill Valley, CA; and one postulant in Oakland, CA. Our members are engaged in a variety of ministries including traditional parish ministries, teaching ministries, technology fields, and community ministries specific to the particular talents of each. BSG is a particularly well educated bunch whom Louis Crew often refers to affectionately as “our wonderful Anglican Jesuits!” Province 8 is no exception with writers; a priest; spiritual directors; a youth minister; and a teacher. How did we get so lucky?
In addition to their ministries, the brothers pray the four hours (Morning, Noon, Evening, and Night) of the Daily Office in keeping with the Rule of the Brotherhood of St. Gregory. The Daily Office can be found online in many places, including the BSG website.
